Christy Puetz: Accidental Monsters

7 Feb

Revisit the Boogie Man and other lore of your childhood, with “Accidental Monsters”, an installation series by Christy Puetz that focuses on how implied danger is used to manipulate and domesticate children in American culture and around the world!

Puetz’s sculptural bead-work and taxidermy create, at once, a profound sense of horror and haunting introspection. “Accidental Monsters looks at how a child’s fear of the boogie monster has been used as a tool to coerce them to behave. My … beaded creatures are visual renditions based on descriptions and the implied actions of boogie monster myths from around the globe.”-Christy Puetz
